Playground

Students at Ocean Studies Charter School had their dream playground become a reality with support from the Miami Dolphins Foundation and KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to giving kids the childhood they deserve through great, safe places to play!

The school’s playground was removed at the beginning of the ’17-’18 school year and the school had fundraising plans in place to replace it. Then Hurricane Irma struck the Keys just three weeks into the school year and everything changed.

Ocean Studies Charter School, like the rest of the Keys, was determined to rebuild even stronger. The school used this opportunity to model community service and unity.

Recognizing the continued need for safe and innovative play spaces, Ocean Studies Charter School opened its new playground to all Keys children after hours and on the weekends – paying it forward to all Keys kids.

The Miami Dolphins Foundation and KaBOOM!  generously covered the build costs of the playground.
